I have spent my entire life fascinated by animals and the planet we live on. From the age of three, I knew that all I wanted to do was be an animal behaviourist and educate people about how they can help the planet these animals depend on.
Now, I have ALWAYS known I wanted to work with animals but I owe my biggest passion to my parents, who took me to Florida for the first time all those years ago.
Disney and the other parks where awesome!... Obviously. But what I didn't know was how much of an impact walking through the gates of SeaWorld Orlando would have on the rest of my life...
I looked into the eyes of a killer whale for the very first time and was completely transformed. Every living breathe after that moment has been devoted to learning more about these incredible creatures and the countless other species that share the ocean alongside them. It made me so determined to help conserve, protect and cherish our precious planet.
But it didn't stop there...
I have been fortunate enough to travel the world with my family from a very young age and explore unique and incredibly diverse ecosystems that animals rely on. I have traversed rainforests, swam among unique and diverse marine life in coral reefs, bum-shuffled down the steps of The Great Wall Of China, almost been trampled on by an elephant, lived through earthquakes in Indonesia, stroked a cheetah, witnessed breaching whales and leaping super pods of dolphin, and sat meters away from a spotted hyena. I am so blessed to have experienced things most people could only dream of!
Not only that, during my travels, I visited countless zoological facilities and aquariums that specialise in aiding both in situ and ex situ conservation efforts, such as SeaWorld, Australia Zoo, Perth Zoo, San Diego Zoo, and Singapore River Safari Reserve.
I always try to immerse myself into every experience that comes my way, seizing every opportunity to come face to face with the weird and wonderful and escape my comfort zone. Immersing myself in different cultures and experiences has allowed me to be a more open-minded and worldly person. It has broadened my understanding of the world’s economy, history, sociology, politics and geography and has inspired me to make a positive impact.
Travelling the globe and being able to have phenomenal encounters with both wild and captive animals around the world has taught me so much about why it is so essential to protect our planet. It is my goal to help educate people and teach them about the ways they can help the planet from issues such as human exploitation, global warming and climate change, as well as why they should help save endangered and threatened species.
I hope that in sharing my experiences I will inspire you all to do the same and encourage people go experience the world for themselves.
So let your journey commence…..
